In the early 1980's, I started a studio
for painting in my home. Later I started teaching for Surry Community
College located in Dobson, North Carolina. In 1987, I rented a building
in downtown Pilot Mountain, North Carolina and put one of my studio
work areas in the front window.
In 1990 I had out-grown this location
and decided to build outside of Pilot Mountain. The new location housed
an art supply, studio, teaching studio and a frame shop was added. During
these years, I entered many competitions and won three Regional Landmark
Prints. I have practiced portrait painting since childhood and find
it my greatest love and challenge.
I have had the opportunity to travel
a great deal and always take advantage to study art in museums. I was
very impressed with Rome and am interested in producing religious art.
Presently, I am researching the symbolism found in religious art. This
will enable me to accurately represent a message in the art.
